La Junta First Church of the Nazarene

What to Expect

Everyone at our church was new at one time or another, so we remember what its like. To make your visit easier, we have members who are part of our greeting team to greet you and answer any questions you have. They are easy to find - they are located at every entrance into our building. They can point you in the right direction, help you get your kids to the right location, and provide you with information about our various ministries.

When Should I Arrive?
If you are a new family with children and attending Sunday School, we suggest you arrive about 10 minutes before class starts so we can help you find the appropriate class for your child and get them checked in with their teacher.

If your not quite ready to jump into Sunday School, we have a wonderful fellowship time between our Sunday School hour and Morning Worship service that begins at about 10:15 a.m.  We have a weekly rotation of volunteers that provide delicious treats to enjoy while you get to catch up with old friends or meet some new ones.

What should I wear?

Come as you are! While you might tend to worry about what to wear to church, you will fit in just fine whether you come in jeans and a t-shirt, polo and khakis, or a suit and tie. What is in our hearts is more important that what is on our body!

What kinds of people are there?

On a typical Sunday, you'll see all kinds of people - from parents proud of their newborn, to families with teenagers, to senior adults hanging out with life long friends. LJ Naz is a multi-generational community of faith with people from all walks of life.

What is there for my kids?

Kids are a precious gift. That's why we provide quality, energetic, fun programming for them. We've got all the resources necessary ... well trained teachers, great facilities, and plenty of toys and resources.

    • We have an excellent nursery for your little ones.
    • While you are in Sunday School, your kids are too - in a developmentally appropriate way.
    • During the worship services:
      • Nursery aged children remain in childcare
      • Pre-school aged children on up can either:
        • attend the full worship service with their parents
        • attend the beginning of the service and then be dismissed to "Children's Church"
